It has been announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin, China, on August 31 and September 1.
The summit will bring together leaders from over 20 countries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres. This marks the fifth time China has hosted the SCO summit, and this year’s event is expected to be the largest since the organization’s inception.
Key discussion points at the summit are expected to include strengthening cooperation among member states, promoting regional security and stability, and addressing global challenges such as terrorism and climate change. China’s Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin indicated that President Xi Jinping will unveil new initiatives to support the SCO’s development and cooperation among members. The summit is also expected to conclude with the adoption of the Tianjin Declaration.
